We are working on providing additional MeshCore Repeaters to help with EMS and Community communications across Lummi Island & The Lummi Nation

MeshCore is a free, open-source, community driven, off-grid communication platform that uses LoRa (Long Range) radio technology to send encrypted text messages and telemetry data without needing cellular networks, Wi-Fi, or the internet.

In late 2024, Australian developer Scott Powell started work on a new protocol called MeshCore, and in early 2025, together with Andy Kirby (UK) and Liam Cottle (NZ).  It is designed to let low-power, microcontroller-based devices form self-organizing wireless mesh networks using hybrid routing: first contact via flood, then learned routes for efficiency.

CascadiaMesh is the Pacific Northwest’s expanding community built mesh network primarily made up of solar-powered MeshCore radios across the coastal Pacific Northwest. Currently it covers British Columbia, Western Washington, and Western Oregon. Along with many other excellent services, they provide #howlbot [commands] which helps for testing your connection on the mesh and provide information.
